Work at Home Business Opportunities: How Affiliate Programs Work

Work at Home Business Opportunities: How Affiliate Programs Work
Many work at home business opportunities center around
selling affiliate products where you earn a commission on
each sale. Affiliate products in digital form are becoming
especially popular, as they do not require buying and
distributing inventory, and are very simple to startup.
Many people are earning thousands of dollars per year with
an internet home business based on affiliate sales, but it
does take time and effective business planning to make the
venture a successful one.

Affiliate programs are based on a revenue sharing system
where each member earns a specific amount of commissions
for each sale. Anyone interested in a work at home
business opportunity can enjoy the flexible hours, as well
as the freedom to put in as many or as little hours as they
wish. The biggest attraction for affiliate programs is
that you can start making money immediately, and focus on
promoting your website instead of selling products
individually. In many ways, an affiliate program can help
you earn money while you sleep; instead of managing
complicated direct sales and marketing campaign, you're
simply building up a team of affiliates through a network,
and promoting your website to customers.

Many work at home business opportunities make use of search
engine rankings and online marketing initiatives to make
their campaigns work. If you're considering running a work
at home business that's based on an affiliate sales
program, you may be involved with recruiting a team of
affiliates, using affiliate promotional tools to build up
your website's credibility and search engine rankings, and
reviewing different products and services to promote as
part of your affiliate website. Depending on the type of
industry you're involved with, affiliate sales can increase
substantially as the market demand for a particular product
grows. The best way to capture the market is to create a
basic business plan and marketing strategy so that your
internet home business will thrive.

Choosing the right affiliate program is an important step
in getting your internet business started on the right
track, and there are some basic criteria to consider during
your selection process. First, make sure you have a clear
understanding of the different commission tiers and
commission levels that you can reasonably attain.
Affiliate networks that are fair and supportive of their
members will publish their schedules so that you can map
out your future success with ease. Look for incentives,
bonuses, and other promotions from the company if you're
determined to grow; these can be very valuable as you build
your internet business and start promoting. Bonuses on top
of commissions can make your efforts that much more
worthwhile. Finally, learn about how to track your
performance, and what types of reports and notices are
available to you. Most affiliate programs provide a number
of tools and resources to help you build your business and
keep track of how you are doing.

Affiliate programs are a great way to create your work at
home business success story, and can help you create a
long-term residual income with very little ongoing effort.
The most difficult part is just getting started, but when
you have an efficient and effective program in place, the
entire project will become more easier and more lucrative
in a few short weeks.

Going Green with Internet Fax

Going Green with Internet Fax
Unless you're already living a mile underground, you will
have probably noticed our planet is in trouble. Serious
trouble.

With global warming, climate change, melting polar ice
caps, severe weather conditions... the truth, convenient or
otherwise, is as evident as your next weather forecast. And
the outlook is not looking too bright for this planet and
everyone living on it.

As different countries struggle to get their act together
to help solve this very serious problem, environmentally
savvy individuals and companies are doing their part to
ease this crisis. For even small changes in individual
behavior or actions can add up to a big difference,
especially as greater numbers of people take the whole
issue of climate change more seriously.

One such area of action is Internet fax. It has proven to
be an environmentally friendly way of faxing, mainly
because Internet or online faxing is paperless. Just as
email has saved valuable resources, so too does Internet
fax.

According to Energy Star, a U.S. environmental protection
agency, copiers and fax machines are the most
energy-intensive types of business equipment because they
are paper-intensive and are left on 24 hours a day. Keep in
mind, paper production in terms of energy used is second
only to petroleum, so using less paper products can only be
seen as a good practice.

Internet fax is using the web and your email system to do
your faxing; and because you send and receive your faxes as
email attachments, it is paperless. In addition, you don't
need an old-fashion fax machine and there's no need for a
second phone line. All these factors make Internet fax an
obvious choice for those conscious of needlessly wasting
valuable resources in their business routines.

Using Internet fax is one way of going green. Many
individuals and companies are now using Internet fax for
this reason. Granted, this may be a secondary reason as
most opt for Internet fax because it is much simpler and
easier to use than regular faxing. It is also very
convenient to have access to your faxes anywhere and
anytime. You are no longer tied to your old fax machine.

MyFax is one fax service provider who is actively promoting
the green angle in their marketing. It may prove to be a
very smart marketing move as more potential customers
become environmentally savvy and switch their future
purchases to more "green" choices.

In order to take advantage of these "green" benefits you
have to start using Internet fax. First you have to sign up
to an Internet fax service provider who will give you your
own toll-free or local fax number. You also get an online
interface (site) where you can send and receive your faxes.
You can also store your faxes online.

There are many well-known fax providers such as MyFax,
eFax, TrustFax, Rapidfax, Send2fax... as well as
lesser-known yet very good services such as Faxage out of
Denver and MetroHiSpeed out of Seattle, which are also
worth considering.

There is a small service charge for these faxing services
that can be a very modest ($20 a year) to around $10 a
month - depending on your faxing needs. Keep in mind,
international faxing rates will be more expensive.

Regardless of which service you choose, using Internet fax
is one way you can go green. It might seem like a small act
but every little step in the right direction counts when
you're conserving valuable resources.

So why not go green with Internet fax? You will not only
discover an easier and more convenient way to fax, but you
may just help save the planet in the process. Now you don't
really need Al Gore to tell you how important that is? Do
you?

The Job Offer Is Not Always As Good As It Looks

The Job Offer Is Not Always As Good As It Looks
Have you ever negotiated an offer?

If not, you are not alone. Most people DO NOT negotiate
salary. They accept what is offered.

Whether you negotiate a salary or not is secondary to doing
your homework before accepting an offer. It is always best
to take some time before signing on the dotted line so that
you understand exactly what you are gaining - or losing.

Here's an example of someone who jumped at an offer before
doing his homework.

Nicholas received an on-the-spot offer and was thrilled.
This was the job he wanted and he was anxious to get
started. He was going to get more money, and a bonus. What
more could he ask for?

When he got home that evening, he sat down with pencil and
paper and began to evaluate the offer, and what he was
getting overall. He was not only shocked by what he
discovered, but wished that he could go back and talk about
some of the issues. But, he had signed on the "dotted line"
that afternoon.

Once you sign the offer letter, you have essentially signed
a contract. It is too late to go back and negotiate. Never
accept an on-the-spot offer, unless it is absolutely
out-of-this-world. It is generally wise to evaluate what
you are gaining and losing. Let's look at what Nicholas
found out by doing some simple calculations.

Nicholas was offered $55,000 per year, with a hiring bonus
of $5,000 paid in two payments over the next six months.
This was a $5,000 a year increase from what he was making
on his last job, and a bonus to boot. An extra $10,000.00.

When he and his wife looked over the benefits package they
discovered that he would now have to pay the insurance
premiums for his dependents. His last employer had paid the
premiums for the entire family. -$350.00/per month -
$4200 per year His new vacation package offered two weeks
time off, accrued over the next twelve months. His former
package included three weeks vacation. -$962.00 one week's
vacation pay

Nicholas was receiving a 6.5% yearly bonus, based on
company earnings in his last position. His new company does
not have a planned bonus as part of the salary. Bonuses are
earned based on performance, and given as judged
appropriate. -$3250.00 per year - lost bonus

His former employer matched 50 cents for every dollar
contributed up to 6% on his 401K account. This company does
not match funds. -$1500.00 per year (based on 6%
contribution)

His calculations showed a minus of $10,000 a year from his
new offer, based on cost of insurance premiums, lost bonus,
and lost matching 401K contributions. He wasn't quite so
thrilled with the offer anymore.

At least he got that $5000 hiring bonus, which will cushion
the fall. But even that will be affected - he didn't
anticipate the higher tax rate on "special" checks that was
deducted from the bonus money. These higher rate taxes can
run as high as 41.5%.

Nicholas got the job he wanted, and maybe that is worth
more to him than the money difference. But, it would have
been wise to make the decision with all the facts before
signing the offer letter. He may have been able to
negotiate another $5,000 to compensate for the benefits
differences. Or, given the higher tax rate he could have
negotiated for an increase in the hiring bonus.

It is always best to take some time to reflect on the
"total package." Benefits can be worth another 20-50% of
your salary. There are other factors to consider besides
money - more challenging work, better company, a greater
opportunity. It may be worth giving up dollars now to
invest in your future. However, the decision should be
thought through before rushing ahead.

If pressed to give your answer to an offer on-the-spot,
always stall for time. Tell them that you need to do some
calculations and think about it. There is only one window
of opportunity to negotiate your terms of employment.. Once
you say "Yes!" - the window closes.

Make sure you take the time to consider all your options.
It's not always as good as it looks.

The SB80 can shred up to 18 documents together and has a

The Best Qualities to Look For in an Employer

The Best Qualities to Look For in an Employer
The best jobs are not necessarily the ones that pay the
most or that are the most prestigious right at this very
moment. You've got to look down the road a ways and see
what the future is like in that particular industry and job
role. Things are always changing, and the hot job of the
moment could dwindle in desirability a few months or years
from now. If you want stability and security, you should
think long and hard about what you ought to be looking for
in an ideal employer.

A great employer is one that looks like it is going to keep
growing in future, getting stronger and more fiscally
robust. You don't want to get involved with a losing
proposition, so always consider the financial health of the
company you're applying to. How can you learn more about
the finances of particular companies? You can start by
looking to magazines like Forbes and Fortune to see what
companies are "hot" and which are "cool," who's making
money and who's losing it. There are also plenty of useful
resources on the web; just do some internet searching to
turn up relevant information.

A good employer is also one who gives you ample opportunity
for growth and development, both in your job role as well
as in high-level positions that are on the same career
track. Before you apply check to make sure that the company
you're thinking of working at will give you the chance to
grow and improve as an employee. You probably don't want to
be at the same level for the rest of your career, so look
at the company's track record for promoting people in-house
and allowing people to rise up to high-level management
positions, etc.

You'll also want to think about any significant perks that
may be offered by the company, such as benefits, sizeable
vacation packages, and so on. Companies that don't offer
perks can still be all right for certain jobseekers, but
most of us need benefits packages that include health,
dental and insurance policies. Depending on your situation,
this may be something to think about prior to applying.

Finally, an ideal company for you is one that matches your
interests and that will utilize the best aspects of your
personality and skill set. Don't apply to an employer whose
morals, integrity, character and culture are incredibly
different from your own, as you will be likelier to be
unhappy there. Rather, go for companies that seem well
suited to your sensibilities—this will go a long way
toward ensuring that you are happy in your job now as well
as many years into the future.
