Why You Should Be a Great Boss

Why You Should Be a Great Boss
Welcome!

If you’re a business owner or executive who is
responsible for managing five or more people, you have
special needs. You have to delegate effectively, stamp out
reverse delegation, develop your people so they can take
over some of your responsibilities and be super-efficient
with your time so that you can enjoy your family and your
life.

If you do not have the skills to do this, your dream
business will start turning into a nightmare -- maybe it
already has.

Highly successful business owners whose business supports
their desired lifestyle know the secrets of being a great
boss. First and foremost, they decided which activities
they need to do. Everything else is delegated. If you
have the fear that nobody else can do it right, you have to
overcome that notion. Otherwise, you will doom yourself to
be chained to routine details.

Next you must choose subordinates whom you can trust to do
the job right. Start out by delegating less important
duties. Take the time to train them to perform
higher-level tasks.

You might complain this takes too much time. This is
minute wise and hour foolish. If time is money, it is also
penny wise and pound foolish. Investing time to develop
new people will save you huge amounts of time in the future.

Many business owners get frustrated when their orders are
misunderstood. One owner of a bicycle shop told a
subordinate to put one of their brand new, top-selling
bicycles in the showcase window as soon as it came in. The
owner went home to enjoy his family that evening. When he
returned to his store, he expected to see a beautiful shiny
bicycle in a store window. He was shocked to see a crate
with the bicycle still inside.

He had neglected the cardinal rule of delegation. Always
ask for a description of what you're subordinate will do.
Again this takes a little bit more time, but gives you far
superior results. It also saves you tons of time.

The key to helping your people grow into being efficient,
helpful and loyal is to get their input. Engage them in
the problem solving process. Ask for their suggestions.
How do they see themselves fulfilling the job? You will be
helping them to stretch and think better. They will become
more self-reliant. Also, if they have ownership in the
process, they will be much more motivated to make it work.

A wise boss will listen to his worker’s suggestions.
He will allow the worker to do things the worker’s
way if feasible. You might have a way of accomplishing the
job that is better. Share this with the worker and let him
decide what he will do. Your worker will have a bigger
investment in his own ideas. He will work harder to prove
his right. The whole idea is to co-create solutions with
your workers. Sometimes, your worker will come up with
ideas that are better than yours.

Follow these steps and you will maximize your people's
talents. They will become highly motivated and more
productive. You will start to free up huge amounts of your
time.

You will be on your way to being a great boss who has more
time to enjoy his business, this family, and his life.

Turn Up Your Listening Skills During the Job Interview

Turn Up Your Listening Skills During the Job Interview
It's In The Ears

If you thought interviewing was only about answering
questions, you've been missing the point. You've also been
missing an opportunity to gather valuable information.
Listening is one of the skills most underutilized by
candidates. Most people go into the interview thinking and
worrying about how they will answer the questions, and they
forget that they are there to find out about the job and
the company. They forget to listen, observe and read
between the lines.

Ready to Answer Questions

The first candidate, Reena sat answering questions and
waiting for her turn. When asked, "Do you have any
questions?" she was ready and took out her list of
questions.

Sounds like she did everything perfectly. Right? Not quite.
She forgot one thing, and that was to listen. If she had
been listening, she would have heard the emphasis placed on
retention. There were at least three questions asked about
her plans for the future; how long she planned to stay with
the company; why she had only stayed with her last company
two years. If she had been listening, she might have been
struck by the focus of these questions.

"I've heard some concerns about retention in the questions
you've asked me. Could you tell me the turnover rate for
this department/company?"

If she had asked that question she might have found out the
turnover rate was quite high. In fact, that was a big
problem for the company. If she had been listening, her
next question should have been, "Is there a specific reason
employees leave?" She may, or may not, have a gotten a
forthright answer, but she would have been able to make her
own judgment, and observe the interviewer for signs of
discomfort with the question. Observing is another way of
"listening" or taking in information.

Turn up your Intuitive

Another candidate, Jerry, listened when he interviewed, and
picked up the thread of questions pertaining to stress and
long hours.

He asked, "On a scale of one to ten, with ten being high,
how would you rate the stress and pressure levels in this
department?" And then, "Is this the norm, or a seasonal
level workload?"

He had already worked in a "sweat shop" where he was
expected to work 60 plus hours a week. He isn't about to
walk into that situation again. He noticed the two
interviewers look at each other when he asked this
question, and they agreed it was a six. Jerry figured that
must mean an eight or ten, and continued to ask more
questions about the subject. He listened carefully -
reading between the lines. He gathered information he
wouldn't have gotten had he not been on their wave-length -
tuned in and listening. He now had enough information to
make a decision as to whether he wanted to work for this
company, in this department.

Rewards of Listening

When all you can think of is the answers that you will be
giving, you miss a premium opportunity to garner
information about the situation you are about to enter, if
you take the job. The bonus of listening is that you
impress the interviewer by the fact that you have heard
what was said, and sometimes what was not said. The best
questions you can ask come as a result of listening. Turn
up your listening and intuitive skills. Read between the
lines! You'll be surprised at what you hear.

The Secret to Building Your Business from the Inside Out

The Secret to Building Your Business from the Inside Out
As a woman entrepreneur, have you ever wondered what the
secret is for building business success? Sure, it’s
important to have a mission statement, a business plan, and
a product or service that meets the needs of your niche
market. It’s also essential that you have funding to
back your venture, a support system in place to guide and
mentor you along your journey, and savvy business acumen.

Yet even if you have all these things, you still may not
hold the key. What is the key to business success for
women? The secret is to build your business from the inside
out. From a place inside that you as a woman intuitively
know and understand. From your Inner Samurai. If you are
an entrepreneurial woman committed to doing work that is
meaningful and important; if you see your work as a
mission, service, or calling; if your goal is to help other
people transform their lives and make a difference in the
world, then the key to making that happen is to connect
with your Inner Samurai. Connect with my Inner Samurai?
What’s that?

Connecting to your Inner Samurai means connecting to your
“inner knower”. This will empower you with the
strength you will need on your journey as you build a
successful business.

All You Need to Know about Your Inner Samurai

Who? Your Inner Samurai is known by many names. It has been
called the voice within, the inner knower, the still small
voice, God Self, Soul, God Within, and Spirit, to name a
few.

What? Your Inner Samurai is best defined by describing its
opposite — the voice inside the head, the monkey
mind, the ego. By contrast, your Inner Samurai is the inner
voice, the voice within. It is the quiet, sure, confident,
strong, vast, and powerful voice of inner knowing. Being
able to tell the difference between the rationalizing,
explaining, blaming, and chattering voice inside your head
and the calm, sure, wise voice of your Inner Samurai will
make all the difference to your business success.

Where? Your Inner Samurai is aptly named because it is the
voice within. Inner because the voice is deep within your
being (to distinguish it from the voice inside your head)
and Samurai because of how strong and powerful it is.
Understanding who your Inner Samurai is and knowing where
to connect with it are vital for your business success.

Why? Everyone has an inner voice. It is that part of us
that is the repository of all our life experiences, hopes,
and dreams. It’s so important to get in touch with
our Inner Samurai because it is our greatest source of
strength and knowing. It is the seat of our wisdom. It is
the place of our extraordinary uniqueness. It exists to
remind us of who we are. How? The most challenging part of
connecting with your Inner Samurai is realizing how it
communicates with you. Your Inner Samurai has a gentle, yet
very recognizable, way of doing so — I like to call
it “pulsing.” When you go inward and ask your
Inner Samurai a question, you will feel a pulse answering
you. This pulse will have one of two distinct qualities. It
will feel like either a yes or a no.

When? Once you know who, what, where, why, and how, the
last thing you need to know is when. When is the best time
to tune in and feel for the pulse of your Inner Samurai?
The answer is: always. Make your Inner Samurai the primary
voice you listen to. Turn to others for support. Turn
inward for guidance. When in doubt between your feelings
and thoughts, go with the pulse. Your Inner Samurai will
never lead you astray, do you wrong, or leave you hanging.
Your Inner Samurai pulse is right 100% of the time. So,
enjoy writing your mission statement and your business
plan. Get creative making your product or service the best
it can be. Develop positive relationships with your
investors and supporters. And don’t forget the most
important relationship of all — the relationship with
your Inner Samurai. It’s the key to building your
business success from the inside out.

The Mind of a Network Marketer

The Mind of a Network Marketer
Peter was very enthusiastic when he joined my colleague's
team. He said that he could see himself doing well with the
company and earning a good income. He saw the potential of
network marketing and in particular our company.

Yet two months after joining, he called to say that network
marketing was too hard and that he was going to quit the
business. This is quite a common occurrence in the industry
Many of us have seen this happen.

Even though his sponsor tried to direct Peter right from
the start, and communicate that it would take work for him
to earn a substantial income, from his network marketing
business, Peter didn't seem to get it.

What is at the root of this lack of persistence? This
inability to see the job through? Peter, like others in a
similar position, had not convinced his subconscious mind.

For simplicity sake, let us say that the mind has two
components. The Conscious and the Subconscious. It is only
when our beliefs become certainties that we reach the
subconscious mind. Put it this way. The conscious mind is
constantly sowing seeds, the subconscious mind is the earth
that receives the seed. In order for the seed to grow, the
subconscious has to be imprinted with emotion and deep
feeling. It is those thoughts, beliefs and actions that we
truly entertain with emotion and certainty that become the
seeds that take root in our lives.

Remember when you were learning how to drive a car? How you
had to be Conscious of every movement...your hand on the
gear stick, your foot on the brake...but once you got it,
it became a habit, it became second nature. You had
transfered your driving skill to your subconscious. Your
repetition, or practice led to it being imprinted in your
subconscious.

The Subconscious records and retrieves data. Through the
autonomic nervous system, it keeps our heart beating and
keeps us breathing It is like a huge memory bank, it
records everything. It takes its command from the Conscious
mind. Whatever we accept consciously, becomes acceptable to
our subconscious mind. It is like a homing device,
depending on the data the conscious mind has programmed
into it, it keeps you within your comfort zone.

Anytime you want to start something new or do something
different, you will feel awkward and unsure, it's the
subconscious that does not feel comfortable. Why? Because
you haven't 'sucked it to see' before trying to do the
thing. You haven't 'tried it for size' so to speak.

So,how to change our life and break out of our comfort
zone? To go back to Peter, he was not totally convinced
that Network Marketing is a viable way to earn a good
living, so he was not able to convince his Subconscious.

When the subconscious is convinced about something, it will
do everything in its power to make that thing happen, to
realise whatever is held in its memory bank. So if you have
convinced your subconscious that you deserve to do well in
your relationship, for example, it will go to work to make
your conviction a reality. If you convince it that you
can't really do well in network marketing, then that is
what it will believe and create for you.

But, how do you know whether your conviction about network
marketing has reached your subconscious? If someone were to
wake you up in the middle of the night and say: 'Do you
think you can make it in network marketing' if you answer
an emphatic YES, without thinking about it, that means you
believe it with every fibre deep in the depths of your
subconscious mind.

How to Communicate with the Subconscious to Boost your
Business

The subconscious mind works best and most productively when
programmed at a time we feel particularly relaxed. One of
the best times to programme it is just before we fall
asleep at night. That half asleep/half awake state is ideal
for influencing the subconscious.

So for example, if you want to build conviction in your
self that you are in the right industry, that network
marketing is the way for you to earn serious money, then
the best thing to do firstly is to use your CONSCIOUS mind
and find out as much as you can about the industry, the
potential and the people who have succeeded in achieving
the lifestyle and money you want for yourself.

Next, just before you fall asleep, at night, start to think
about all those people who have achieved and then imagine
what your lifestyle would be like once you start to
achieve. Do this every night until you begin to feel
conviction growing in you, certainty and a positive feeling
about being able to succeed in Network marketing.

Then slowly and gradually this attitude will become second
nature to you, you are convinced and your subconscious is
too. And you will gradually begin to see more and more
success and growth in your business.
